Meet Leaf & Limb Tree Service!
A company is only as good as its people. Lucky for us, we have an outstanding group of individuals who are professional, courteous, competent, hard-working, interesting, and unique! Here are the members of Leaf & Limb, in no particular order:
Stuart is a veteran tree man, and master of his trade. After finishing school, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the arboriculture industry. He proved himself as an extremely hard worker with excellent decision-making abilities. Since starting, he has become proficient in many facets of the industry, including crew supervisor. He is now working in our sales department as an ISA Certified Arborist client representative. Stuart has a quick wit, he is an accomplished soccer player, dominates the Frisbee golf turf, and loves good BBQ.
It is highly unlikely that you could ever find somebody who is a better office manager than Andrea. Her mind is a steel trap of information – she knows all and forgets nothing. She is super organized, very efficient, and great with clients. Rest assured, you will enjoy interacting with Andrea when you work with Leaf & Limb – everybody always does. As a native Minnesotan, she is a self-described hockey addict. She also loves pizza, 80’s rock, and Stephen King.
There is little doubt that Juan is one of the best tree climbers in the industry. Juan will tackle any project head on, and do so in an efficient and safe manner. Watch Juan in action when he is working on your property, and you will be amazed – we regularly hear “oohs” and “ahhs” from clients when he is in action. He has countless years of experience and is a long-time Leaf & Limb veteran. Little known fact about Juan: he is also an accomplished mechanic and expert tinkerer.
Known far and wide as “The Most Interesting Man in the World” (yes, the Dos Equis man stole his title) Gerren is a man of many talents. He is a former Marine (Oorah!) with combat experience. He is a verified computer whiz, having earned a degree in computer science. He even moonlights as a hip-hop artist during nights and weekends. What more could you ask for? He is fairly new to the tree care industry, but like all Leaf & Limb employees, he is smart and learns fast. We are happy to have G on board! Now, if we could just get him to give us a hip hop demo…
Perhaps the most contemplative member of our company, Leo is a skilled climber with demonstrated leadership capabilities. Before joining Leaf & Limb, he served in the U.S. Army for eight years as crew chief on a Black Hawk helicopter. Yeah, we have really impressive people here at Leaf & Limb! Following his service, he decided to relocate from the Golden State to the East Coast – lucky for him, this is where he met his beautiful wife! When he is not in a tree he is likely to be on a bike hurtling down a mountain trail towards the finish line or fashioning intricate objects with his advanced woodworking skills.
Although Joe joined the arboriculture industry recently, he has already made big strides. He has proved to be an asset to his crew and a quick learner. He is athletic and loves to play soccer, golf, tennis, and various other sports. If he is not playing a sport, chances are that you will still find him outdoors somewhere, likely fishing, hunting, or hiking. Food of choice? A savory rack of ribs of course!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case it certainly is. Jorge is extroverted, outgoing, and quick with a laugh. But don’t let this Honduran’s fun-loving antics fool you. This man is an absolute beast in the tree. He left home at the tender age of 16 and forged his own career path. Today his skills rank among the best in the industry. Upon joining Leaf & Limb, he quickly proved himself as worthy of joining our arsenal of top-rated talent. Outside of work Jorge loves fishing, soccer, and spending time with his kids.
Chris is an industry veteran with over 17 years of experience who currently works in our sales department. He has an A.A.S. Degree in Forest Technology and is an ISA Certified Arborist. His training ranges from academic topics such as dendrology, entomology, botany, and forest biology to applied skills such as climbing, installing lightning protection systems, and pruning. He is a master of complex structural pruning and properly hand pruning a wide array of shrubs and ornamental tree species. Away from work you may find him tinkering with his 1970 Mach I Mustang that he has owned since the age of 18.
Known in these parts as Pancho Villa, this bearded fellow hails from the Hog and Hominy State. At first encounter, Zach may strike you as quiet and introverted, which he is. But spend a little time with him and you’ll get to experience his hilarious dry humor in full force. Zach has a variety of experience within our industry, ranging from sales to production operations. He currently serves as our head tree care technician performing pest and disease treatments, root collar excavations, and so forth. If you find him outside of work, he is probably cliff jumping, repelling, hiking, or working on 4 wheel-drive vehicles.
Charlie enjoys long evening walks on the beach, preferably in the company of prancing unicorns…. Wait, scratch that. Charlie enjoys beating people and lifting heavy objects. He is an MMA fighter with a record of 10-2 on the pro circuit. He competes in strong man competitions and can deadlift over 650lbs. Although he has only worked within our industry for a little over a year, he has risen through the ranks quickly and has already begun training as a climber and crew supervisor. Outside of work he loves spending time with his wife and six children. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Charlie IS able to lift his car.
Joe is an ISA Certified Arborist and one of our client representatives. He is also the most educated member of Leaf & Limb, having earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a masters degree from UGA. Joe originally joined Leaf & Limb because of his interest in tree care. After mastering tree care, he then moved into sales in an effort to continue his development within the industry. When he is not poring over the most recent arboriculture research papers, you will find Joe among the die-hard sports fans rooting for all things that bleed Carolina Blue.
After three tours with the U.S. Army in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan, Jason (Staff Sergeant, E-6, Decorated) worked for a number of private firms including H&K and Blackwater. A series of personal decisions led Jason to apprentice under a 30-year veteran arborist in northern Virginia. Building on his culmination of experience within both fields, Jason joined Leaf & Limb as our Training & Safety Officer where he is focused on implementing and overseeing a rigorous training and safety program. He is an ISA Certified Arborist who loves spending time with his family when he is not working. If you see him, ask him about deluge catastrophism!
Andrew wins the award for most cheerful member of Leaf & Limb. As a matter of fact, it may not even be possible to surpass his happiness rating. Before joining Leaf & Limb Andrew earned a Bachelors Degree in Forestry and worked for a major tree care company in Baltimore, MD. He has only been working in the arboriculture industry for a little over a year, but he has already attained an array of experience. He is currently training to climb and is taking part in our crew supervisor development course. Outside of work he is a skier, a life-long Giants fan, and a connoisseur of all things perogie.
Cedric is gifted with incredible athleticism and smarts to match – pretty much the perfect recipe for becoming a great climber. But becoming a great climber also requires hard work and dedication, something Cedric proved he possesses when he spent months on end with his head buried in climbing books or with his practice lines set in the nearest tree. He is now a crew supervisor who specializes in impressing clients. Cedric is a self-taught musician who creates his own tracks. He is also a self-taught basketball extraordinaire, demonstrating on courts all across Raleigh that white boys CAN jump.
Squirrels do not have anything on this man. Oscar can climb trees with the best of them. He is extremely talented as a climber – one of the best in the industry – and has ranked in climbing competitions in the Southwest. He always has a smile on his face and a joke ready for any occasion – he is a real joy to work with. When he is not at work, Oscar loves spending time with his wife and children. He has even begun teaching his children how to climb. With Oscar as their teacher, they are sure to be climbing superstars!
Mitch works hard, pays attention to detail, and has a wide range of experience in the tree service industry. He can handle everything from felling trees to loading logs, and from grinding stumps to managing ropes. He is currently in charge of our stump grinding operations where he impresses clients on a daily basis. Out side of work, Mitch builds and races drag cars during his spare time. He is currently building a car that will reach speeds over 115 mph on a 1/8th mile track! He also enjoys coaching his son’s accomplished travel baseball team, where he led them to a state championship this past season.
Eric has made big strides with our company. Within a year he has gone from a rookie to a competent crew supervisor. He is eager to learn and somebody you can rely on to get the job done properly. As one of the more outgoing members of Leaf & Limb, everybody enjoys working with Eric. When he is not busy being an expert lumberjack, he enjoys skateboarding, going to concerts, and cooking. As a matter of fact, Eric used to be a manager at restaurant here in Raleigh. Though he no longer cooks professionally, he is still master of the grill!
“Straw King”, “Chatty Cathy” “Honder” – take your pick of nicknames for Hunter. Super gregarious and quick with a laugh, Hunter always livens the day for the crew and regularly impresses clients. Hunter is veteran in the industry with a wide range of experience – he is an expert stump grinder, an experienced ground worker, and now a climber in training. Off the job, Hunter is a highly accomplished golfer who narrowly missed making the cut for Junior PGA Series. Favorite food? Tacos.
Chief Inspector Devin, head of the Internal Investigations Department, is the newest member of our office staff. With his calm, collected disposition he is perfectly suited to his primary role: wrangling wayward members of the sales staff. Well, that and offering cheerful customer service each time the phone rings. When he is not busy with office operations, he is either in beast-mode power lifting in the gym, hitting the heavy bag to practice muay thai, or refining his jiu-jitsu skills. Little known fact: Devin will only eat four basic food items: pasta, pizza, cheese, and broccoli. Yes, he is probably the strongest vegetarian this side of the Mississippi.
Jocular, bewhiskered, ebullient – these are just a few of the adjectives we use to describe Kyle. Before joining Leaf & Limb, Kyle graduated with a degree in psychology from UNC-Wilmington. Upon joining, Kyle quickly became crew supervisor due to his attention to detail, excellent workmanship, and charming customer service. Clients everywhere rave about Kyle – we even had one that wanted to adopt him! Kyle is 6 feet, 5 inches of beast on the basketball court, and he loves traveling. He actually spent a year living in Chile where he explored South America, hiked the Patagonia, and he became fluent in Spanish.
Where to begin? Colin originally founded this company in 1997, starting with nothing but an old truck. Many years later, Colin is now among the top in the industry when it comes to knowledge of all things tree-related. He is a regular arboriculture encyclopedia – clients are always amazed by his expertise. He is CTSP accredited, an ISA Certified Arborist, and studying to become an ISA Certified Municipal Specialist. He was born and raised in South Africa, speaks many languages including Dutch and Afrikaans, has mastered soccer, used to compete nationally in judo, and loves samosas.
Basil’s official title? Wizard of Things. He is in charge of all things business development related. He went to Duke, where he graduated magna cum laude with a double major in economics and history. After working as an economic analyst, Basil decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dream. After co-founding and building a successful business specializing in luxury travel in Africa, Basil decided to get back to his roots (no pun intended) and try his hand in the tree industry. He is now co-owner of Leaf & Limb. If he is not working, you may find Basil trying to re-ignite former skills on the soccer field, mountain biking, or reading a good biography.
